Today I have a handmade friendship card to share for my spot on the My Cricut Craft Room Design Team. It’s fun to send someone a card for no reason other than to thank them for being a friend and make them smile.
My Mom bought me the Country Life Cricut Cartridge last year for Christmas. Each year I put a few Cricut Cartridges on my wish list, and after Christmas, I treat myself to a couple with my Christmas money.
I don’t know why, but I haven’t used this cartridge much. It has some great die cuts on it, that I really like, but I guess I was always working on other themes.
While working on my Design Team Cards for My Cricut Craft Room, I saw that one of the themes was Girls. I picked that one right away, because I knew it would be easy! A few days later, I saw this watering can and flower on the Country Life Cricut Cartridge, and I knew that it was a perfect fit for the Girly theme.

The hydrangea on the Walk In My Garden Cricut Cartridge is one of my favorite Cricut cuts. I am a sucker for flowers. I love flower stamps, flower paper, and of course flower die cuts. Here’s how I made this hydrangea card.
I used the Butterfly Garden Paper Stack from Die Cuts With A View. The colors in the stack are beautiful with some added foil on a few of the prints. There are also prints with butterflies and flowers. I used one a green print and a pink print to cut two bases for the hydrangea using the Walk In My Garden Cricut Cartridge.
I cut the flower part off of the pink one and attached it so that the only green part that shows is the leaves. Then I used the layer feature to cut the flower part that shows more detail. Finally, I used the layer feature to cut out the individual flowers. The flower has 3 layers, and I used pop dots between each layer to give the flower extra dimension.
I used 4 different patterns of paper for the background of the card and added an organza ribbon and knot. I fussy cut the butterfly out of the cover of the paper pack. I hated to waste a whole piece of 12×12 paper for just one butterfly. I attached it with a mini glue dot in the center so that I could fold the wings up.
To finish the card, I used cream colored Liquid Pearls to add centers to the individual flowers and pink stick on pearls to the corner.
The Walk In My Garden Cricut Cartridge has flowers, leaves, caterpillars, snails, butterflies, dragonflies, turtles, and lots of garden accessories. The special features include a tag that makes a great bookmark, borders, and cards.
Using the Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More Cricut Cartridge is a great base to make bookmarks. This cartridge has a variety of tags that are perfect for making bookmarks. There are rectangular and oval tags with different features and different shaped tops. You can use the hole feature for tying ribbons, fibers, tassels, and twine.
For this handmade bookmark, I cut the scalloped top tag at 4 1/2″. It is from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut Cartridge. I cut it out of black and gray patterned paper that is in the Black Current Die Cuts With a View Paper Stack. I punched the bottom with a Martha Stewart Border Punch. You can decorate your bookmark any way you want, but keep in mind that you don’t want it too thick.
To decorate my bookmark, I made a layered flower using a punch and flowers from the Walk In My Garden Cricut Cartridge. I used a Stampin’ Up punch for the largest flower. Then I cut two different smaller flowers using the Cricut and stacked them.
I stamped the word READ on gray paper and punched it out with a Stampin’ Up oval punch. To finish it off, I tied 3 black and pink fibers through the hole using a slip knot. I have a friend who knits and shares her scraps. this is a wonderful project for using up bits and pieces!
Bookmarks can be big or small, decorative or plain. With so many options, making bookmarks with the Cricut can keep you and your kids busy for an afternoon. They will be so pleased with the results that they will want to share them with their friends and family. This is a really quick Cricut Project that would be fun for kids. I hope you’ll give it a try!
Flowers are always perfect for a Thinking of You Card.
The Walk In My Garden Cricut Cartridge was one of the very first ones that I bought, and it’s still one of my favorites. I love the flowers, but I also love the bugs and creepy crawlies on that cartridge. Walk In My Garden can be used for so many fun Cricut projects.
I am a sucker for the paper stacks in Joanne Fabrics, and I found this one on sale for 50% off. It has lots of oranges and yellows in wonderful florals, stripes, dots, and natural prints. All of those mixy matchy papers make it easy to make cards.
The base of the card is vanilla Bazzill cardstock. Then I added a dark brown mat. For the flower, I cut the hydrangea, because I like the leaves. Since I only wanted the leaves, I cut off the flower part. Then I cut the same flower out three times in 3 different sizes and patterns.
I stamped Thinking of You using the Stampin’ Up set Teeny Tiny Wishes and punch it out using the Stampin’ Up Label punch.
To finish the card, I added bronze colored pearls and an off white bow using binder tape ribbon, also by Stampin’ Up.
Today was a snow day. We might have another one tomorrow. I sure hope so. It puts me in the mood to be crafty!
