Silhouette Christmas Scrapbook Layout

December 21, 2017 by Lynn S 1 Comment

Hey crafty friends.  I’m Lyne from Lynn’s Everyday Ideas and I want to say a big thank you to Pam for having me here again as such a special time of year.    Today I’m going to be sharing with you a scrapbook layout that I created using just a 6×6 paper pad from Simple stories and a die cut background that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

Make this festive Christmas Scrapbook Page Layout with the Silhouette Machine. The Christmas Tree background looks great against the black cardstock.

I have had this 6×6 paper pad in my stash since 2014, and I decided it was time to try to use it up.  I used a cut file from Paige Evans on the Silhouette store.  The file was only about $1 and it made a beautiful focal element for my page. It is cut with white Bazzil cardstock.

To back the images you can either trace and hand cut or use the Silhouette software.  I did some hand-cutting, but most I did with the software.  The way I did that was to unweld the background and enlarge one of the inside trees just a tad.  I then duplicated them in rows and just placed my paper in those rows and cut multiple trees at once.

The page didn’t need much embellishing after the trees were done since there were so many patterns included.  I did however add a few things that I felt added just a little bit here and there so there was some dimension to the layout.

The other fun thing about this page is that one of the layers under the photo is a paper bag. Inside the bag I created a very large cardstock tag to insert.  I wanted this so that my journalling didn’t add any more business to the page.

I am really happy with how this layout came out, and I hope it encourages you to give a die-cut background a try as well.  Oh, and if you’d like to see this come together I have created a video.  Hope you enjoy!

How to Make a Scrapbook Album

Learn How to Make a Scrapbook Album

Many people ask me about how to make a scrapbook album.  For nine years I lived and breathed scrapbooks. My life revolved around scrapbooking, paper, and stickers. I owned a small scrapbook store which I closed in August 2011. For those nine years, I taught many people how to make a scrapbook album, how to use the Cricut, and how to make cards.

Learn how to make a scrapbook album. From what tools you need, what kind of adhesive to use, and how to sort your photos, you will be on your way to making a keepsake in no time! I wish I had known all of this when I first started!

Cute Cricut Squirrel Scrapbook Page

January 6, 2016 by Pam Larmore 7 Comments

A scrapbook page with a Cricut squirrel isn’t just for fall.  With all of the projects that I have on this site that feature the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge, I’m sure you’ve already guessed that it is one of my favorites!

Cute Cricut Scrapbook Page with a squirrel, owl, tree branch, and a tree. Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge

You may usually think about squirrels being a fall animal, but here in Maryland, they are spunky all year long.  This Cricut Scrapbook page looks more like spring or summer with the bright green and leafy tree and tree branch.

Supplies Needed to Make this Cricut Squirrel Scrapbook Page

  • One 12×12 piece of patterned paper or solid cardstock for the background. I used a green dotted paper from Stampin’ Up.  I really like using something with a small pattern or a texture for the background of scrapbook pages.
  • 11″ x 4″ piece of patterned paper (trees).
  • 1 1/2″ x 8″ piece of patterned paper (pink floral).  Even though there is a little bit of pink in this scrapbook page, I think it could still be used for a boy.
  • 1 1/2″ tree branch from the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge
  • 3″ Owl from the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge
  • 3″ Cricut Squirrel from the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge
  • 4 1/2″ tree from the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge.  Save some of the cut out leaves for the tree branch.
  • Firefly Stickles
  • Scrapbook Adhesive – I like to use EZ Runners tape adhesive
  • Zig Glue Pen
  • Foam tape or pop dots

If you have trouble choosing adhesives, visit Cardmaking and Scrapbooking Adhesives to learn about the different kinds and how they are used.

How to Make this Cricut Squirrel Scrapbook Page

  1. After you have cut the layers for the Cricut Squirrel, Owl, Tree Branch, and Tree, attach all of the pieces using a glue pen and set aside.
  2. Using Scrapbook Adhesive, attach your patterned papers to the 12×12 background papers, following the photo above for placement.
  3. Attach the tree branch and the tree to the page using tape runner adhesive.
  4. Use Pop Dots or foam tape to “pop up” the Cricut squirrel and owl.  Ta daaa!  You’re done!

This sweet Cricut Scrapbook Page is a pretty simple Cricut Project.  All of the shapes are pretty big with only a little detail, making them easy to assemble.  Create A Critter has lots of sweet animals that would go along with these.  I hope you will try it out!
