Fun and Easy Sharpie Crafts

May 18, 2017 by Pam Larmore Leave a Comment

Growing up I had two little brothers who were rather ornery.  They were into EVERYTHING!  The only time I got to use markers were at school.  After a classroom of 20 kiddos have used a pack of markers, you can imagine how dried out they were.

Easy Watercolor Painting Project

March 16, 2017 by Pam Larmore Leave a Comment

I’ve been dabbling with watercolor painting lately.  I’ve always found watercolors fascinating, and this Easy Watercolor Painting Project was right up my alley.

I loved art in elementary school.  I had two little brothers growing up, so I didn’t get to paint at home.  Painting in art class was a real treat.

This easy watercolor painting project with a resist pattern is as easy as they come. You only need a few supplies, and the results are awesome!

I remember the first time we did watercolor painting at school.  I had colored with watercolor paints before, but I had never had an instruction.  I had never really created anything “pretty” with watercolors.

The first thing the art teacher told us to do was to wet the paper with water.  I was like….What? Really?  No one had ever told me that very important part!  Then she told us to put water on the paint colors that we were going to use.  I didn’t know that either!  No wonder I always ended up with a less than stellar artwork with dull, pale colors.

She showed us how to create a simple scene with a sky and grass.  I was amazed watching the colors mixing and flowing.

Fast forward 35 years.  My mom is a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator, and she had ordered some watercolor paper.  She wanted me to play with it.  Two packs of paper later, and I’m completely smitten once again with watercolor paints.

I still can not create anything spectacular, but I am still fascinated with how the colors blend.

I bought this watercolor resist canvas for my niece, but I liked it so much I painted it myself.  I’ll have to buy some more.  I saw some new patterns that will be so pretty.

Supplies Needed for Easy Watercolor Painting

  • Cosmo Cricket Watercolor Resist Block
  • Watercolor paints
  • Fairly fat paintbrush
  • Water
  • Old Rag

This easy watercolor painting project with a resist pattern is as easy as they come. You only need a few supplies, and the results are awesome!

Instructions

  1. LIGHTLY wet the block before adding watercolor paint.  I added a little too much at first, and the colors were very pale.
  2. I made a horizontal pattern, but you can make an type of pattern you like.
  3. Remember not to mix colors that are across from each other on the color wheel.  They won’t blend and will be an ugly brown.
  4. You might want to experiment on plain paper before painting your block.
  5. See the video below to see how I painted my project.

I told you this was an easy watercolor painting project.  I think I might add some shimmer or glitter to mine.  All things are better with GLITTER!

Easy Butterfly Craft

February 7, 2016 by Pam Larmore 1 Comment

I bet you will find this Easy Butterfly Craft as simple and quick as anything you’ve ever tried.  The most difficult part is gluing on the wiggle eyes, but if you have a pair of tweezers, this butterfly craft will be a cinch.

Easy Butterfly Craft using Chocolate candies, clothespin, pom pom, wiggle eyes, washi tape, and tacky glue. These are perfect for kids to make for birthday or Valentine's party favors. Also cute for spring or Easter Parties.

Supplies Needed for Easy Butterfly Craft

  • Wooden Clothespin – Use the clip type, not the peg type
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Washi Tape
  • 1″ Pom Pom
  • Two tiny poms poms or pieces of thread or rick rack for antennae
  • Fun Size bags of M&M’s
  • Scissors
  • Thick Craft Glue

This list of inexpensive items might already be in you craft stash.  There are different ways to decorate the clothespin.  You cut scrapbook paper and glue it onto the clothespin or you could paint it.  Using Washi Tape makes this a very “neat” craft with very little mess.

I used tiny pom poms from a ribbon trim that I bought at Walmart, but black embroidery thread would work also.

Since this Butterfly Craft is so easy, I’m not going to list step by step instructions for making it.  Here is a short video showing you just how simple it is!

I made 30 of these, and it didn’t take me long at all.  This is an activity that the kids could help with.  Since the washi tape is self sticking, you only need a small amount of glue.  If the kids are to small to small to do the gluing, they could be in charge of the washi tape.

So now that you see how to make these Easy Butterfly Candy Crafts, you can make them for Valentine’s Day, Spring, or Easter.   They are great little “Thank You” gifts, unexpected treat for the kids, or party favors.
