Halloween Mason Jars Using Expressions Vinyl

October 6, 2015 by Pam Larmore 6 Comments

We made these fun Halloween Mason Jars using clear jars.  They were very easy to make.  Once you learn how to use the vinyl with your Cricut, you’ll want to make lots of Cricut vinyl projects!  Some were mason canning jars, and some were empty pickle and mayonnaise jars.

At a recent crafting weekend, I taught the ladies how to use vinyl with their Cricut Machines.  Everyone knew that the Cricut would cut vinyl, and some of the ladies had even bought some, but they hadn’t tried it.

Halloween Mason Jars decorated using Cricut Vinyl - These can be luminaries, decorations, or for holding Halloween Candy at a party.

Supplies Needed to Make Halloween Mason Jars

  •  Glass Jar – You can use a Mason canning jar, used mayonnaise or pickle jar, or a clear jar from the dollar store.  Smooth sided jars work best, but you can also use a jar with a design on the side like a Mason jar. Any size jar will work. A gallon jar would be really cool to put on your porch for Halloween, and baby food jars would be great table decorations for a Costume Party.

I Won the Groovy Times Cricut Cartridge!

September 29, 2014 by Pam Larmore Leave a Comment

I’m a few days late posting this, but boy did I break out into a Happy Dance last week. I can’t say that I NEVER win anything. I mean, I’ve never won the lottery or a car or anything, but I have won a few raffles and some perfume at a quarter auction. Last week, I had two wins!

Two weeks ago, I followed an Autumn Blog Hop sponsored by My Cricut Craft Room.  A blog hop is when a group of bloggers post projects on their blogs on the same day along with a list of other bloggers who are doing the same thing.  Some blog hops may offer drawings to those who visit and comment, and others are just for fun.  I didn’t even realize that there was a prize for the Autumn Blog Hop until I saw it posted on Craft Lovers Come Here.  They were giving away the Groovy Times Cricut Cartridge which I don’t have yet.  I’ve already looked up projects using this cartridge on Pinterest, and can’t wait to get it!  You can still visit Craft Lovers Come Here to see the list of blogs and follow along. My Cricut Craft Room sponsors a blog hop featuring Cricut projects every weekend as well as daily Cricut Projects created by the design team.  Last week’s theme was School Days.  On October 11th, the them is Halloween Home Décor, and the following week the theme is Minnie, Mickey, and Me.  I know there will be awesome projects for that! Halloween Cricut Treat Bags So that was my first win.  My second win was at Bitten By The Bug.  They are a fun Cricut Challenge Blog, with a different theme each week.  I entered Halloween Treat Bags.  Most challenge winners are chosen at random, but Myra at Bitten By The Bug chose the winner.  Out of 40 entries, she chose ME!!!  Here is what she said.

I fell in love with PamL.’s from P.S. I Love You Scrapbooking Halloween Cricut treat bags !!!  I loved the little Halloween owl and cute pumpkin !!!

To see which Cricut Cartridges I used and how I made them, visit Cricut Halloween Treat Bags.

I hope you had a “win” this week.  Whether is was a personal accomplishment or finding a penny on the ground, we should celebrate them all!

Cricut Halloween Treat Bags

September 13, 2014 by Pam Larmore 20 Comments

These Halloween Treat Bags and Party Favors made with the Cricut aren’t very spooky, but they sure are cute!   My kids are older, so I don’t need to make Halloween Treat Bags for day care or school anymore, but it’s fun to make a few treats and give them to friends.
Cricut Halloween Treat Bags and Party FavorsWhen I was a kid, Halloween was a BIG DEAL!  There were parties, haunted houses, and costume parades. After Christmas, it was favorite day of the year.

The only Halloween Treat Bags that we had were the little paper ones from the drug store.  They had witches, ghosts, and jack-o-lanterns printed on them.  I loved getting them filled with candy and spider rings.

Halloween Treat Bags sure have come a long way!

Halloween Mason Jars is another project that that I made.

How I Made These Halloween Treat Bags

For the first Halloween Treat Bag I used the Nut Cup on the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut Cartridge (page 130).  I used the Fit to Page feature on the Cricut Expressions, so that it would cut it as big as it would fit on a 12×12 piece of paper.  You can also use the Expressions 2 or Explore Machines.

The purple, orange, and black chevron patterned paper works great for Halloween.  It is from the Die Cuts With A View Stack called Spooky Time.  Any Halloween patterned paper would work though or even sold card stock.create a critter 2 cricut cartridge pumpkin

I cut the Jack-o-lantern at 3 1/2″ from the Create A Critter 2 Cricut Cartridge.   He’s not very spooky with his rosy cheeks though! The sides of the nut cup are slanted outwards, so I attached the Jack-o-lantern on the inside so it’s facing up. The nut cup is perfect for party favors.  When cut on the largest size, the nut cup is big enough for a handful of small candies like M&M’s or a bit of crushed paper and miniature candy bars.

The witch owl Halloween Treat Bag is also cut from the Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More Cricut Cartridge.  It is the gift bag on page 115 of the manual.  I used the Fit to Page Feature to make it as large as it would fit on the 12×12 paper.  The pretty orange patterned paper is from the Spooky Time Stack from Die Cuts With A View.  The purple dots are embossed and glossy for extra texture.

To hold the nut cup and treat bag together, I used Tacky Tape.  It is much stickier than regular adhesive.  You can also use Glue Lines.

I cut the owl at 3 1/2″ and attached him with glue dots. The owl is on the Create A Critter 2 Cricut Cartridge.  He reminds me of the owl in Harry Potter!  Create A Critter 2 has lots of critters for all occasions.  Kids would love any kind of treat bag made with these animals.
