Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge Review

You have may have noticed that I use the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge A LOT! Those chunky animals are just too cute!!! They are sweet for making cards, scrapbook pages, party favors, and so much more!

Not only does the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge have cute animals, but it also has great accessory shapes and phrases to go with the animals.

Using the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge

To cut the animals, start by cutting a base in dark cardstock. To add the different colors, you will use the Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 keys. Each Layer key will cut a different part of the animal. If you use the Shift button, you will cut the other animal or other die cut on that key.

For example, the first key cuts a frog, dragonfly, lily pad, crown, and the Prince Charming phrase. (Page 21) Pressing ONLY the key, cuts the base for the frog. If you use the shift with that key, it cuts the base for the dragonfly.

I always cut the base in black, but any dark color would work. The only part of the black base that shows is the eyes and mouth.

By using the Layer keys, you can cut the frog’s belly, cheeks, and body in different colors. A lily pad and crown can be cut using the Accessory key, and the title “Prince Charming” can be cut using the phrase key.

When cutting a layered die cut, I always keep the book open so that I can refer to it.

It may sound like a lot of work to assemble these creatures, but none of them have tiny pieces like some of the other cartridges. I use a glue pen to glue the pieces together. Some of them look great if you add wiggle eyes to them.

There are lots of clever sayings that go with the Animal Images on the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge and the Animal Kingdom Cricut Cartridge. Some of the sets include Punnylicious and More Punnylicious. When you take a look at the sayings, you’ll see how the stamp sets got their names.

I originally bought my Cricut Expressions for doing scrapbook pages, but now I use it for cards too. The My Pink Stamper stamps make it super easy to make cards that people will ooooh and aaaah over!

These polymer stamps mount to acrylic blocks making it easy to position the words right where you want them! Some brands of acrylic stamps don’t stick very well, but My Pink Stamper stamps are high quality acrylic that adhere to the acrylic blocks perfectly.

There are lots of Cricut Cartridges that have animals. All of them are great for using with the My Pink Stamper Punny-licious set. The Some-bunny Loves You! comes from the Even More Punny-licious set from My Pink Stamper and goes perfectly with the bunny sitting on Hello Kitty’s head.

The turtle is from the Walk In My Garden Cricut Cartridge. I could have also used the “Turtley Awesome” stamp.

This monkey swinging on the vine from the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge is great for cards or scrapbook pages. I added a banana to the monkey’s hand and the saying Bananas 4 You! It turned out so cute! It can be a great Valentine’s Day Cricut Card or for a little boy’s birthday.

St. Patrick’s Day Cricut Cards Using Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge

Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? I’m going to a St. Patrick’s Day party this year, but we don’t normally celebrate the day of the Irish.

There is a parade in a nearby town. The participants not only wear green, but they dress their dogs in green and have green decorated golf carts. I’ve seen pictures, and it looks like so much fun! I’ve always wanted to go to it, but the weather never seems to cooperate. I’m hoping to make it this year though!

Sesame Street Cricut Cards

I have wanted to share these fun Sesame Street Cricut Birthday Cards with you for some time, but my Blog had other plans. I’m not sure what the problem was, but I couldn’t upload photos. It seems to be fixed now, and that’s all the matters!

Sesame Street has been around for as long as I can remember. I wasn’t a big fan when I was a child, because our television only got 4 channels and the Sesame Street channel wasn’t one of them. With the help of cable TV, satellite, and lots of marketing of Sesame Street toys, Big Bird and Friends have stayed popular for several generations.

Instructions for Sesame Street Cricut Cards

For all three of the Sesame Street Cricut cards that I’m going to show you, I cut the characters at 3″. Big Bird was a bit of a challenge. His eyes and the stripes on his socks are teeny tiny when you cut him that small. For the characters on the Sesame Street Friends Cricut Cartridge, I suggest cutting them at least 4″. Elmo wasn’t too bad, but all of the other characters have lots of detail making it hard to assemble them when they are small.

Speaking of Elmo, here he is offering a great big hug to wish someone a Very Happy Birthday! As you can see, he doesn’t have any tiny parts. He worked out just fine on 3″.

For all of the characters, I started with a black base. Then using the layering keys, I cut the other pieces. When you do layered pieces on the Cricut, you always leave the size the same for all of the layers. For example, I left the setting on 3″ even for his eyes and nose. I use a Zig Glue Pen to glue all of the pieces on my Cricut Shapes.

Who doesn’t love this goofy eyed guy? Cookie Monster is another well loved character on the Sesame Street Cricut Cartridge. He has a lot of detail in his fur and on the small pieces of cookie, making it a challenge to cut him at 3″. I didn’t want him too big for my card though! The black and white shapes behind him were cut using the Elegant Edges Cricut Cartridge.

If you look closely, you can see lattice style embossing on the background. I used the Cuttlebug and an embossing folder, running both layers through at the same time. Papers in primary colors with geometric shapes works perfectly with the Sesame Street Friends Cricut Cartridge.

The Birthday Wishes Stack from Die Cuts With A View has great papers that matched these characters. I added a little bit of ribbon, solid cardstock, and a few brads for embellishments. The Happy Birthday were stamped with a set from Stampin’ Up called Teeny Tiny Wishes. The ovals and scalloped ovals are Stampin’ Up Punches. Each Sesame Street character has a couple of different poses.

The other characters included on the Sesame Street Cricut Cartridge are Oscar the Grouch, Bert & Ernie, Count Von Count, Prairie Dawn, Grover, Mr. Snuffleupagus. and Zoe. There are also lots of great shapes from the popular TV Show like the Sesame Street Sign, rubber ducky, doll, and bear. I hope you’re doing something crafty today!
