I can’t believe that the holidays are upon us.  Once October gets here, the days and weeks seem to fly by, and before we know it the New Year is here.

Us ladies want everything to be magazine perfect, cramming all of the fun and excitement into just a few short weeks.  We want to bake beautifully decorated sugar cookies like the ones we see on Pinterest, and we want to be the envy of the neighborhood with spectacular outside decorations.

We want to have the first place float in the town parade, and we want to go caroling.  Between all of those fun activities, we want to host drool worthy dinner parties that are memorable for all of the guests.

We need more TIME!  I can’t help you with the time, but I can help you set a gorgeous table for a classy holiday dinner party.

Sweet Holiday Smells

There are smells that transport us back to the fun memories of holidays past.  My local Kroger has a well stocked display of Glade® Limited Edition Holiday Fragrance PlugIns® Air Fresheners, Jar Candles, and Automatic Sprays.

One of my favorites is the smell of a live Christmas Tree.  Take a shortcut, and get the same rich fragrance by spraying Glade® Tree Lighting Wonder™ aerosol air freshener throughout your house before your guests arrive.  Even if your decorations aren’t real, you can make people think that they are with the the scent of spruce, fir, cedar, eucalyptus, and lavender.

Light a Glade® Cozy Cider Sipping™ Jar Candle in your dining area so that it smells of apples, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

The other holiday scents offered by the makers of Glade® are Candy Sprinkling Joy™ and Frosting with Love™.  You can get them in jar candles, aerosols, and PlugIns® air fresheners to make your whole house smell like heaven throughout the entire month of December and into 2018.

Be on the lookout for Glade® Holiday Limited Edition Fragrances on display at your local Kroger Store now!

Place Card Party Favors

Hostesses like to add personal touches to make all of their guests feel special.  A sweet memento at each table setting for the guest to take home will help them savor the time that you spent together.

This is a beautiful touch to a classic holiday table setting, and adds a personal touch.

Tips for Setting a Classic Holiday Table

  • Add personal touches like a handwritten note or personalized place card.
  • Make sure your centerpiece isn’t too tall.  You want guests to be able to talk without ducking around it.
  • Stick to one color pallette, whether it’s traditional or more modern.  Ivory and gold, blue and silver, and red and black decorations are easy to find this time of year.
  • You don’t have to spend a fortune to make a big statement.  Dollar stores and discount stores have very pretty decorations.  It’s all in the presentation.
  • Don’t make the menu so complicated that you spend all of your time in the kitchen.  You want to be able to enjoy your guests.
  • When preparing for your dinner parties and doing your grocery shopping, don’t forget to stock up on Glade® Limited Edition Holiday Fragrances.

DIY Pallet Crafts are so trendy right now, and I’m jumping on the bandwagon.  Since the supplies for the base are free with the exception of some manual labor, these are also budget friendly for decoration and for gifts.  This Pallet Snowman Craft would also be a great project to sell at Craft Fairs.

My friend, Steph has access to free pallets.  Who doesn’t like free, right?  Her husband broke them down, and use the slats to make wood plaques.   They are the perfect size for a home decor project, and this snowman is so cute on it!

Pallet Snowman Instructions

Sand any rough edges on your pallet.  If you want a really rough look, you don’t have to sand it at all, but watch for splinters.

I made a stencil using my Cricut Maker Machine.  A search in Cricut Design Space brought up lots of choices.  This snowman was actually a tag.  I enlarged it to fit on the pallet.

Since I was using the vinyl as a stencil and not a decal, it didn’t matter what color it was.  I had this piece of pink in my stash.  It was wrinkled, but since I’m going to peel it off when I’m done, I knew it wouldn’t matter.

Use application or transfer tape to stick the snowman to the pallet.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ultra Clear Transfer Tape from Expressions Vinyl.    It let’s you see exactly where you’re placing your decal or stencil.  No more paper transfer tap for me.

You’ll have to take your time removing the transfer tape.  Rough surfaces are more of a challenge that smooth ones.

After you have the stencil stuck to the pallet, you’re ready to paint.  You can use a stencil brush or an old paintbrush.  I had a fluffy paintbrush in my tool tote, and it worked perfectly.

DON’T get too much paint on your brush.  I dipped my brush in the paint, and then dabbed some of it off before painting on the stencil.  If you get too much paint, it will run under the stencil.  If you don’t get enough paint the first dab, you can always add more.

I dabbed around the outside of the circle to create a frame.  When I was finished, I peeled off the stencil.  The thickness of my circle in some spots was uneven, so I touched it up.

And that’s all there was to it!  This was one of the easiest Cricut Projects that I’ve made, but I love how it turned out.

Is your Christmas tree up yet?  You can be honest!  I don’t put mine up until after Thanksgiving, but I won’t hold it against you if you’ve had your decorated for a month…or more!

I was in a fun Handmade Christmas Ornament exchange with some other great craft and DIY bloggers.  My partner was Chelc with Inside The Fox Den.

Chelc sent me a picture of her gorgeous Christmas Tree so I could get an idea of what she likes.  It’s beautiful with lots of glitter, shimmer, and pastel colored balls.  I have never made Glitter Christmas Ball Tree Ornaments before, so I thought this was the perfect time to try.

Supplies Needed to Make Glitter Christmas Balls

  • Clear glass or plastic Christmas Balls
  • Pledge Floor Care
  • Ultra Fine Glitter
  • Cricut Machine – Have you seen the new Cricut Maker?
  • White Adhesive vinyl
  • Transfer tape
  • Small flowers, berries, greenery, or pearls
  • Glue Gun

I used small glass Christmas Balls.  The larger ones are awesome for longer names or larger graphics.  Remove the metal cap, and set the ball on top of a plastic cup.  Pour a small amount of the Pledge Floor Care into the glass ball.

Swish the Pledge around in the ball, to make sure the inside is covered.  Turn the ball over and pour the excess into the cup.

Set the clear Christmas ball right side up onto the cup.  Using a funnel, pour glitter into the ball.   If you don’t have a funnel that’s small enough, use a piece of paper to make a cone funnel.  That’s what I did, and it worked perfectly!

Hold a paper towel over the hole with your finger, and shake the glitter until the inside is covered.  Shake out the extra glitter.

I wanted to add the words peace and joy to my glitter ornaments.  I found both words pre-designed in Cricut Design Space and cut them out of white vinyl using my Cricut Maker.

This was one of the first projects that I made with Maker, and it turned out great.  This amazing Cricut Machine, cut  the words 1 1/4″ high with no problem.

I used application tape to attach the vinyl decals.  If you’re not sure how to use transfer or application tape, I made THIS VIDEO showing you how to weed and apply vinyl.

I liked the Glitter  Glass Ball the way it was, but I really thought it need something around the hanger.  I added fake white berries and pearls using a glue gun, and I love how it gave the Christmas ornament an extra Pop.

Craft Vinyl – Angel Direct Products Review

December 2, 2015 by Pam Larmore 5 Comments

When I received a roll of Angel Direct Products vinyl, it looked pretty ordinary, however when I started using it, I had an “AHA! Moment”.

Angel Crafts Products - You will love craft vinyl from Angel Crafts. I was amazed at what a difference a small packing change could make. Here is a fun craft that I made using it. It can be used with the Cricut Explore, Silhouette, and other cutting machines.

Normally, when you receive vinyl, it is rolled tightly into a small roll, but the Angel Direct Products vinyl was on a 2 1/2″ cardboard core.  Honestly, I didn’t think that it would make much difference, but YES IT DOES!

Fighting with a 12×12 piece of adhesive vinyl is sort of like trying to stuff 5 frisky cats into a cardboard box.  You need lots of hands and even more patience!  Even then, you end up with a few scratches, a torn box, and a mouthful of expletives!

I was sent this product at no charge in exchange for a review.  All opinions are my own.  I would never endorse a product that I found unsatisfactory.

Because Angel Direct Products vinyl is on a larger core, it unrolls easier and doesn’t curl so bad. Ahhhhh!  Now there’s music to my ears!  Curling vinyl isn’t too bad if you are working on a small project, but when you’re making a large sign, it’s down right aggravating!

Gold Glitter Christmas Bucket - I used loose glitter, and craft vinyl from Angel Direct Products to make this great little project.

How I Decorated this Bucket Using Angel Direct Products Vinyl

During Blitsy’s Black Friday Sleepover Party, the last challenge was to make something gold.  I don’t have much gold, and there was a time limit.  So, I was a little rushed!

I had this decorative gold bucket that I bought last year.  I thought it would look good with some gold glitter trim.

  1.  I used a paint brush to apply a Mod Podge stripe to the bucket.  If there hadn’t been a deadline, I would have taped off the stripe with painters tape, so the edges would be even and crisp.
  2. While the Mod Podge was still wet, I sprinkled it with gold ultra fine glitter.
  3. I used the Cricut Explore to cut the word “joy” out of craft vinyl from Angel Direct Products.
  4. Using application tape, I adhered the “joy” to the bucket.

This was a really quick project, but I love how it turned out!  I’m trying to find a small white Christmas Cactus to put in it.  Watch this video for more crafty information.

As a side note, I LOVE glitter!  It’s a good thing too.  I was wearing black and had gold glitter all over me.  It also made me sneeze and cough, and I had it all over my laptop.  I think it was rather festive.  Nothing like a little sparkle and shine to kick off the Christmas season!
