Repurpose Tissue Boxes Into Frames

July 11, 2017 by Julie Nichols Leave a Comment

Hello,  I’m Julie, the creator of Love My Simple Home. I am thrilled to share with you a simple repurpose craft project using tissue boxes.  This is a simple and fun summer craft to make with your children or grandchildren.

Repurpose tissue boxes into picture frames. This is an easy craft that only uses a few supplies. Kids can make them too!

Supplies for Repurposed Tissue Boxes:

  • Empty cube shape tissue boxes
  • Scissors
  • Tape or glue
  • Photograph
  • Exacto knife

Ok, are you ready to get started?  I kid you not this is going to be the most simple craft project you’ve ever made!

First, pull out the plastic in the cutout

Then take apart each tissue box by gently pulling apart the glued sides of the box.   Be careful not to tear the box.   Most of the boxes came apart easily,  for the stubborn ones use an Exacto knife to loosen the glued seam then gently pull apart.

This is how the box will look after all the seams are pulled apart and it is flattened.

The part of the box with the cutout is going to be the frame.  Using a scissor cut this part off from the rest of the box.  There should be a crease on the box that you can follow so your cut will be straight.

Next cut the small flap off and you will have a frame

Turn the frame over make sure it is on a flat surface and is straight,  then center a photograph on top of the cutout with the back facing you.  Tape or glue the photo to the frame.  I used tape this way I can easily change out the photo.  Now turn the frame over to see your photograph in the frame.

For one of the frames, I used a photograph of my husband and daughter feeding a baby cow.  It was a picture I took while we were at a local farm enjoying a summer day together.

One of the tissue boxes had a pretty design of purple daisies, I just cut that out and framed it!

The other frame has a picture of one of my plants.

Here are a few more ideas of what to put in the frames.   Search magazines for pictures, take a picture of your child or grandchild having fun at the beach or park,  frame a pretty flower from your garden,  a quote or Psalm, a simple word like HELLO, or a group of words like I Love You,  a sweet picture of your fur baby.
