Heart Shaped Deco Mesh Wreath for Valentine’s Day

January 14, 2018 by Pam Larmore 11 Comments

Deco Mesh projects are everywhere.  They sell rolls of this great craft supply at Dollar Tree and Walmart making it inexpensive to stock up on every color.

My friend, Stephanie with Crafty Ladybug Creations, made this beautiful Heart Shaped Deco Mesh Wreath for Valentine’s Day.  I haven’t participated in the Crafty Destash Challenge for quite awhile, but Steph dug into her Valentine’s Day Craft Stash to make this pretty wreath.  She was kind enough to let me share it with you.

Stephanie had two large plastic tubs loaded with red, pink, and white heart craft supplies.  Among the supplies was a heart shaped wire wreath form, and white deco mesh.  She also had lots of beaded sparkly flowers and hearts to add to the wreath when it was finished.

Supplies Needed for Deco Mesh Wreath

  • Heart Shaped Wire Wreath Form
  • 2 Rolls of White Deco Mesh
  • White Pipe Cleaners
  • Pink Roses
  • Red Heart Picks
  • Valentine’s Day Ribbon
  • Glue Gun

Twist pipe cleaners around wire wreath frame.  Alternate them on the inside row and outside row of wire, as show in the above photo.

Gather and twist bunches of white deco mesh and attach to wire frame using the pipe cleaners that you have twisted onto the frame.  Since this frame is fairly small, I made the loops small.  If you were making a large wreath, you would want the loops larger.

Work your way around the wreath frame until you are back to the beginning.  Begin and end with the deco mesh tucked toward the back so the end doesn’t show.

Using white pep cleaners and a glue gun, attach pink roses and red beaded heart picks to the wreath.

Tie  a bow with the Valentine Ribbon using a pipe cleaner to hold it together, and attach it to the wreath at the bottom of the flowers and hearts.

Add a pipe cleaner to the back so that you can hang it.

Now that you know how to make a deco mesh wreath, you are ready to make them in every color for every holiday.  Have fun mixing and matching colors!

What a beautiful wreath! I love that you can make it with Dollar Store items… not that I need to go shopping for craft supplies… lol!

That is a very pretty wreath. With a few small alterations I could also see it as an everyday decoration on the wall of a little girl’s room.

That’s so pretty! I always have wanted to know how to make a wreath with the fiber mesh…never have known. I have some scraps of it in the basement & think I’m going to go practice with it a while so I can get the hang of it.

This wreath turned out super cute. I love the airy feel that Comes through the deco mash. Something seems not right with the first two links from the supply list. You might want to check them out.

Oh wow! Great idea to use pipe cleaners to attach the mesh as opposed to other types of wire. I really like the look 🙂
