DIY Dollar Store Wreath for Spring

February 13, 2018 by Pam Larmore 6 Comments

Happy Wednesday and welcome to this month’s Inspire My Creativity Party.  Each month on the second Wednesday of the month, I join a group of other crafty bloggers to bring you projects to jump start your creativity.  This month I’m going to show you how easy it is to make a DIY Dollar Store Wreath for Spring.

Make a pretty DIY Wreath using a Grapevine wreath and supplies from the Dollar Store. #diywreath #wreath #dollarstore

This month’s theme is Dollar Store, and I can’t wait to see what the other talented ladies make using supplies from Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and other dollar stores in their area.

As you may know, I’ve been working on cleaning up, purging, and reorganizing my craft room.  I’m coming down the homestretch and would have had it done, but I got sidelined by the flu for the past 2 weeks.

I needed some decorations for my craft room.  I have a few things hanging on my walls, but I’m not really crazy about any of it.  Most of the things in the room are hot pink or teal.  I saw these silk teal roses at the Dollar Store, and I thought they would be really pretty on a wreath.

Follow along and you will see how I made it.

Supplies Needed to Make Dollar Store Wreath

  • Grapevine wreath – They come in lots of sizes. Choose whatever size you want, but keep in mind that different size wreaths will need more or fewer supplies.
  • Silk Flowers
  • Ribbon
  • Butterfly, Birds, dragonflies, etc.
  • Wire Cutters
  • Glue Gun and glue sticks
  • Floral wire to tie bow

I started by making a bow using ribbon that I found at the dollar store.  There are a gazillion ways to make bows.  Watch the video to see how I made this one.  Attach the bow to the wreath using the wire that you tied it with.

To make a wreath, you will need short stems on your flowers.  Use wire cutters to cut apart all of the flowers.

Using a glue gun, attach the flowers and leaves to the grapevine wreath.  I prefer to use a regular hot glue gun instead of a low temp glue gun, but it’s up to you.  Add flowers until you get the fullness that you like.  Watch the video above to see how I spaced the flowers.

I added a butterfly to the wreath.  The dollar store always has great decorations to adding to your wreaths.  They have dragonflies. ladybugs, frogs, and other critters in the craft section and in the garden section.

Here’s my finished wreath.  I can’t wait to finish my Craft Room so I can hang it up.  I have a few more teal accents to add to my room, and the wreath will fit right in.

Don’t forget to join us next month for flowery crafts, and visit the other projects at the bottom of the post to see what the other talented Craft Bloggers made.

I’ve already told you how much I love this wreath, lol, but really the teal and white flowers just work so perfectly with the natural colors of the grapevine wreath I have to gush again. Such a beautiful wreath!
