Cuttlebug Card with Cricut Stars and Buttons

June 10, 2014 by Pam Larmore 4 Comments

Here is a quick Cuttlebug Card with Cricut Stars and Buttons that you can make in about a half hour.  It could be used to wish someone a Happy Birthday or Congratulations on your Graduation.  You can add the sentiment of your choice.

Cuttlebug Card with Cricut Stars - Very easy card that can be changed up for any occasion.

The layout of this card is very versatile, and the Cricut stars can be changed to hearts, flowers, leaves or another shape.  The stars could be changed for a holiday like Easter Eggs for Easter, snowflakes for Christmas, and bats for Halloween.

I designed this card for those who are new to the Cuttlebug.  I wanted to show them how easy it is to make a completed project.

How I Made This Cuttlebug Card with Cricut Stars

The base of the card is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, then folded in half.  The mat is cut from red striped paper and is 5 1/4″ x 4″.  Then I cut a piece of white cardstock 5″ x 3 1/4″  and ran it through the Cuttlebug Machine with an Embossing Folder to give it some texture.  The Cricut stars were cut using the Old West Cricut Cartridge.  If you don’t have that Cricut cartridge, there are others with stars.  I added buttons to the centers of the flowers.

The patterned papers are from the Birthday Wishes Die Cut With A View Paper Stack.  This paper stack has lots of wonderful prints great for birthday parties and other celebrations.  I love that it has lots of primary colors that are perfect for other kids projects.

Do you have Cuttlebug?  If not, it might be the next card making tool to add to your Wish List.  My favorite use for the Cuttlebug is to use embossing folders to add texture to cardstock.  You can add embossing to backgrounds or to die cuts.  It really adds a nice detail to your projects.

The Cuttlebug can also be used for cutting shapes.  There are tons of dies that you can buy for cutting shapes.  My favorite for card making are the Nestabilities by Spellbinders.  They are shapes in graduated sizes so you can do lots of layering on your cards.
