Under the Sea Cricut Card

October 1, 2014 by Pam Larmore 5 Comments

I created this Under the Sea Card using the Life Is A Beach Cricut Cartridge.  When I saw that Erika at My Cricut Craft Room posted Sea Animals as a theme for the Design Team, I knew that I wanted to sign up for that one. I already had something in mind, and the Life Is A Beach and Stretch Your Imagination Cartridges would help me create it.

This Under the Sea Card Uses the Life Is A Beach and Stretch Your Imagination Cricut Cartridges. There sea turtles, seaweed, seahorse, coral, starfish, and a sand dollar, along with a great layered background using torn cardstock. You can see the sizes and instructions by clicking the link. There is lots of detail and dimension.

How I Made This Under The Sea Card

I don’t make square cards very often, but with this idea, I knew that I was going need a little extra room to work with.  The card is 5″x5″, and the base is blue Bazzill cardstock.  I really like using Bazzill for my card bases, because it is a heavier weight than most cardstock. To create the water and sea floor layers I tore strips of cardstock and layered them.   The rough torn edges gave the water and dirt a natural look.  I used two shades of brown and three shades of blue. life is a beach seahorse

With the exception of the sea turtles, all of the die cuts are on the Life Is A Beach Cricut Cartridge. To make the seaweed, I used two shades of green and cut them at 4 1/2″ and 3″.  The taller pieces I attached flat to the paper, but the shorter pieces I only attached at the bottom so that I could overlap them with the seahorse.  The seahorse is cut at 3 1/2″.  Then I cut a sand dollar to cover the bottom of the seaweed.

The sea turtles are on the Stretch your Imagination Cricut Cartridge.  They are 2″ and 1 3/4″.  The larger turtle is attached with glue dots, flat to the background.  The smaller turtle is attached with pop dots to add dimension. life is a beach cricut cartridge turtle card

When I attached the coral, star fish, and sand dollar, I let them hang off of the edge and then trimmed them to the edge of the card.  By overlapping die cuts, using popdots, and adding Stickles Glitter glue the card has lots of dimension.

The Life Is A Beach Cricut Cartridge is awesome for summer, tropical, and beach themed projects.  It’s definitely a must have!
