Butterfly Craft Ideas for Kids and Adults

August 31, 2017 by Pam Larmore 1 Comment

Trends and fads come and go, but butterflies never go out of style.  Whether you look at DIY Home Decor or kids crafts, butterfly crafts are always popular.

Monarchs and swallowtails make gorgeous paintings for handing in your home, but not all butterfly crafts have to be works of art.  Even kids can make butterflies out of toilet paper rolls, construction paper and pipe cleaners.

Here are some butterfly craft ideas to try. There are butterfly wings for costumes and pretend play, plant markers, home decor, and party decorations.

These tissue paper butterflies from from Val Event Gal will add cheerful colors to a bulletin board, little girl’s room, or garden party.

Habiba with Craftify My Love has a tutorial for these gorgeous butterfly wings.   They could also be fairy wings, but no matter how you wear them, they will be the perfect addition to your costume.

Sarah, the Must Have Mom has a recipe for Healthy Honey Nut and Oatmeal Breakfast bars.   She packages them in these cute butterfly baggies.   This is so much more fun than serving them in plastic wrap.

Ann’s Entitled Life will show you how to make these easy butterfly plant markers.   If you’re having trouble attracting real butterflies to your garden,  these fake ones will add a touch of color.

Lindsay The Frugal Crafter made this really cool butterfly with dyed doilies.  She also has gorgeous watercolor and colored pencil butterflies.

Here’s a version of butterfly wings for toddlers, and they can help you decorate them.  Tots will love playing pretend or using them as part of a costume.  You’ll be amazed at what Katelyn upcycled to make this fun accessory.

What better way to spread the butterfly love than to send a card with birthday wishes.  I love making handmade cards, and they often have butterflies on them.

This butterfly birthday card was one of my favorites.

Here’s a sweet little butterfly craft using clothespins, pom poms, wiggle eyes, and washi tape.   These are easy enough for kids to make.

Would you believe that these stunning butterflies were once 70’s wall decorations?  These beautiful butterfly wall decorations have gotten a makeover and an update.  They look very chic painted black!

Now that you have some new butterfly craft ideas, you can make something fluttery for your home or next party.
